AB 1506 IS DEFEATED IN COMMITTEE. COSTA-HAWKINS IS SAVED.

An Assembly bill introduced by Richard Bloom (D-Santa Monica), AB 1506, to repeal the Costa-Hawkins Rental Housing Act of 1995 (“Costa-Hawkins”) has been defeated. In a meeting today in front of the Housing and Community Development Committee, a 5 member committee, two members were in favor, two were against, and one member, Ed Chau, abstained; therefore, preventing the Bill from moving forward to the General Assembly.
